The NBA commissioner, Adam Silver has proposed a twenty two team format to restart the NBA 2019/2020 season in Orlando, Florida,as per sources close to the NBA hierarchy.
The twenty-two teams consists of thirteen Western conference teams and nine Eastern conference teams. Each teams are to play eight regular season games when the league returns to help determine playoff seedings.
Play-in tournament in the NBA’s twenty two format would only be for the eighth seed according to reports. If the ninth seed is four or more games back, the eight seed earns the spot.
But in a situation in which the ninth seed is four or fewer games behind, there will be play-in single elimination for the ninth seed while there will be a double elimination for the eighth seed.
A tentative date of July 31st has been set and the NBA also proposed the timeline for the last possible date for game seven of the NBA finals is on 12th October, 2020.
Voting will take place tomorrow, Thursday 4th of July by NBA executives to ratify the proposal made by the NBA commissioner, Adam Silver.
The NBA has been on break since early March due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic after several NBA players tested positive for the virus and the virus spread further to close to a million people and killing over a hundred thousand in the United States of America.
