The Premier League, in their meeting held today with all the stakeholders and representatives of the 20 Premier league clubs has announced a date for the 2020/2021 Premier League season as the prolonged season comes to an end this weekend.
Also in the meeting, Premier league clubs reviewed the use of VAR and the clubs also discussed the use of five substitutes just a day before the end of the current campaign but vote were not cast yet for the use of increased number of substitute in the Premier League.
However, a date was picked for the start of the new Premier League season, which was traditionally planned to start in August but due to the impact of the coronavirus and subsequent lock down in U.K, the 2019/2020 Premier League season was delayed and is just on the verge of completion.
DATE FOR THE 2020/2021 PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON
The Premier League in their meeting, has picked the weekend of 11th to 13th of September, for the start of the new season after the current season delayed till the end of July.
Meanwhile, the premier league also are considering giving an extended resumption date for premier league teams that are involved in European club competitions, teams like Manchester City, Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea.
The extension of the resumption date is heavily dependent on how far the teams go in the competition, with Manchester City and Manchester United well positioned to progress further in the different European cup competitions.
