After finishing in pole position in Saturday’s qualifier, Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team driver and current F1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton, utilized his pole finish to win the 2020 British Grand Prix in Silverstone in a dramatic fashion.
In the last few laps of the race, Hamilton had three tyres after the left front tyre got punctured with at least more than half a lap to go in the race that saw him extend his lead at the top of the drivers championship table, after his win on home soil.
RedBull’s Max Verstappen, claimed the second spot after opting to pit a few laps from the end to try and claim fastest lap, Lewis Hamilton had enough time in hand despite his punctured tyre to reach the checkered flag before Max Verstappen who was closing in on him.
Scuderia Ferarri driver, Charles Leclerc, finished third in silverstone to earn a first podium finish for Scuderia Ferarri team in the new championship year after a disappointing start for him anfd his Ferarri teammate, Sebastian Vettel.
Australian Daniel Ricciado, who drives for Renault, finished fourth in the race after McLaren’s Carlos Sainz, who was set to finish in fourth position before having his own tyre issue in the last lap of the race. The tyre issue he had saw him finish outside the top ten in the race.
Lando Norris of McLaren team made up the top five position in a very dramatic British Grand Prix that saw Lewis Hamilton claim his seventh Silverstone win in a dramatic fashion.
Mercedes teammate of Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, was in line to finish on the podium before the tyre issue also happened to him. He however, finished outside the top ten after Sebastian Vettel held off a late charge from him to claim the tenth position.
