Arsenal played Norwich city at the Emirates last night in what was their first game back at their home ground since the #ProjectRestart having played four consecutive games away from home. The match was a 4-0 victory for the gunners in a match the club captain reached 50 Premier League goals, making him the fastest Arsenal player to reach the landmark. Also yesterday, Arsenal tied youngster, Bukayo Saka to a long term contract after a protracted negotiation. Here are some of the thoughts and news from the club;

Mikel Arteta on the win against Norwich: “I’m very happy. A lot of the things that we worked on & that we are trying to do actually happened in the game. The way we pressed, how aggressive we were, the way we played in the opponent’s half, the first 43 minutes were really good”

Mikel Arteta also gave his thoughts on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang becoming the fastest Arsenal player to reach the 50 goa mark in the Premier League and his contract situation, “What he has achieved today to be the fastest to score 50 in the whole history of this club tells you everything about his mentality & the way he works every day on his finishing, on trying to help the team”

He continued, “A player that’s able to score as many goals as he’s [Auba] done in that short space of time tells you everything about the importance he has for us. Players that can make the difference in any moment in the game every 3 days. He’s done that at different clubs”

Arteta on Aubameyang’s contract situation: “I leave that to the football club. Auba knows really well my thoughts towards him, the project I want to create & that I want him in that. I am positive & I will remain positive but things have to progress”

Arteta on Aubameyang wanting to stay at Arsenal: “He is willing to stay with us. I think he is really happy where he is, he can see what we are trying to do”

The Arsenal coach also gave his thoughts on Granit Xhaka’s improved performances; “His commitment goes beyond anything normal. He’s a great example the way he lives this possession. I’m really happy we convinced him to stay & learn from the mistake he made”

Arteta on Dani Ceballos, “He’s understanding what we’re trying to do really, really nicely & he has big personality to play & take the ball in any area of the field & give us the continuity that we need as a team to control the games better”

“But as well without the ball. The running that he’s putting in, the tackles, every time with the interceptions, his desire to win that ball back & help the team, he’s improved so much & he looks a really good player at the moment”

Arteta on signing Dani Ceballos permanently: “Both clubs have been in communication. I really like Dani & what he brings to the team. He has a big personality to play & takes the ball in any area of the field. He has improved so much & he looks a really good player”

Mikel Arteta on Matteo Guendouzi’s continued absence: “It’s the same reasons as last week. Things have to change & nothing has changed”

Arteta on Cedric: “I am so happy for the boy. He has brought great energy & positivity to the group since he joined. A perfect night for him”

Mikel Arteta on Bukayo Saka signing a new deal: “I am delighted, he fully deserves this new deal,” Arteta told Arsenal Digital. “I think he represents every value that this football club stands for.

“He [Saka] has come through the academy, and earned his respect with hard work and accountability and you can see the progression that he is having as a player but as well as a person.

“He [Saka] is a player that his team-mates really like, that I admire and he has a big hunger to become even better so I think it is the perfect thing to do right now.

Arteta: “I am not just talking about him as a player and how he has been educated, but as a man as well because as I said, he is the perfect example of what we are looking for.”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reaching 50 Premier League goals for Arsenal “Really proud, but first of all, I’m proud of the team. What we did today, I think we deserved the win because we did a great job. Everyone worked. I’m really happy today. My performance was I think good! I’m always happy to score goals & help the team to win games.”really well today. [I’m] really happy & proud!”

Aubameyang: “I’m really happy that Bukayo signed da ting. We’ll see [about signing]. We’ll talk with the club and see what happens. I’m really focused on the games. Since Mikel is in we’re doing well. We’re working well. We have signs we’re improving.”

Arsenal have intensified their interest in signing Thomas Partey. The Ghana international has a €50m release clause but Arsenal will be hopeful of negotiating a lower figure. Partey is thought to be keen on moving to the Emirates Stadium.

Thomas Partey has not taken a definitive decision on his future but has spoken to advisors, friends & team-mates about a possible switch to the Premier League, a move that would intrigue him, while he is open to moving to London.

Mikel Arteta wants to sign Lyon attacker Memphis Depay if either Aubameyang or Lacazette leave. He would be available for a few in the region of £20m.
