Following the FA Cup triumph against Chelsea at the Wembley stadium on Saturday, Arsenal are looking to bolster their squad as the FA Cup came along with European qualification, which means extra cash of around 30 million pounds.
The main priority for Arsenal now, is to settle the future of their talisman and captain, Pierrr Emerick-Aubameyang. The Gabonese has just a year left on his current deal and he has delayed in extending his contract with the Gunners amid interests from other clubs and Arsenal’s ability to challenge for big players in the transfer market.
However, rumours are rife that the captain has put pen to paper on a new deal after being persuaded by coach, Mikel Arteta, to stay with the North London club. Though nothing official yet, but the general feeling is that he will extend his stay.
Another piece of contract extension Arsenal need to address urgently is that of goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez. The goalkeeper has impressed while standing in for the injured first choice goalkeeper, Bernd Leno and the club are desperate to tie him to a new deal.
Arsenal still need to clear the squad of some players before bringing in other players. Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi have seemingly fallen out of favour with the coach and the club are desperately looking to sell the pair.
Players like Alexandre Lacazette, Hector Bellerin and Lucas Torierra could be sold if a good offer came in. Also, Rob Holding, Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be sold only for the right price. Loan players, Henrik Mhikitarayan and Mohammed El-Neney will be deemed surplus to requirement.
NEWS ON POSSIBLE ARSENAL TRANSFER TARGETS
Arsenal are trying to sign a host of players this summer. Below are some of the players they have been linked to. The link, i am told, is nothing but just interest, no official contact yet.
ARSENAL TRANFER NEWS/TARGETS
– Gabriel Magalhaes
22 year old Brazilian CB Gabriel is one of Arsenal’s targets this window. Gabriel is a hard tackler and doesn’t shy away from an Aerial duel. His composure is also one of his defining traits. Lille have valued him around £27m attracting offers from Man Utd, Everton and Napoli.
As a left footer, he is usually deployed at LCB, a position Arteta looks to strengthen this window. He prefers to do his defending outside the 18 yard box and will look to intercept passes and press attackers as high up as possible.
The player’s agent is said to be in UK at the moment meaning a move to the EPL is likely on the cards. A boost to Arsenal may be his recent response to Pepe’s post and the growing Brazilian group in the team. Should Arsenal sign Coutinho or Willian, it could convince him further
– Marc Roca
The 23 year old DM has been on Arteta’s radar since. AC Milan, Atletico and Real Madrid all interested in the Spaniard’s signature. Espanyol are willing to cut Roca’s asking price from his £36m release clause to between £18m and £22.5m following their relegation.
Marc Roca just like Rodri and Busquets, is your typical Spanish DM. As great readers of the game, they rely more on timed interceptions and standing tackles rather than going to ground. He operates in central positions and is best utilized as the lone DM behind 2 CMs in a 4-3-3.
Marc Roca’s destination remains unknown for now. AC Milan look favs as Arsenal are looking at Partey first. If Partey joins Arsenal then Atleti may look to sign him as a replacement. If the Partey deal fails then Arsenal will turn to him. Signing him and Partey would be difficult
– Thomas Partey
Arsenal’s top target for this window is the Ghanian international with a reported release clause of £45m. Arsenal reportedly opened negotiations with Atletico with a rejected bid of £22.5m plus Guendouzi. Atletico have suspended negotiations for now
– Dominik Szoboszlai
The 19 year old is one of Europe’s hottest prospects and it seems he will be available for transfer this window. Dominik can play as a CM, CAM, LM and has registered 12 goals and 18 assists in 40 apps this season (all comp), a testament to his attacking threat
Last month, it looked like Dominik was on his way to AC Milan for a fee of £26m but an Ivan Gazidiz masterclass seems to have halted the transfer. Arsenal have reignited their interest and will look to battle PSG and Napoli for the Hungarian’s signature
– Philippe Coutinho
According to reports, Arteta has expressed his intentions to sign the Brazilian on loan next season. Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian is also keen for the midfielder to join Arsenal. As Arsenal are the only ones in for the player, it is down to negotiations.
Barcelona are looking to offload the Brazilian this summer but would prefer to make it a permanent move. Arsenal have reportedly placed a bid of £9m plus Guendouzi but it seems the Catalan giants aren’t interested in the Frenchman. For now, negotiations are still ungoing.
– Willian Borges da Silva
The 31 yr old is edging closer to leaving Chelsea on a free after rejecting the club’s latest attempts to persuade him to sign a new two-year deal. Arsenal look set to get him on a free transfer with his agent Kia Joorabchian keen on making it happen.
– Joelson Fernandes
Hailed as the next CR7, Joelson Fernandes is probably Portugal’s most talented youngster along side Porto’s Fabio Silva. Arsenal look set to exorcise the ghost of the failed CR7 transfer back in 2003 by signing the left winger this window.
Fernandes’ current deal is believed to have a release clause of £40million but the stalled negotiations mean he could be available this transfer window for a fee of between £13.5m and £18m. Arsenal have reportedly sent officials to Portugal to finalize the deal in the coming days
Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta will be looking to get deals over the line in time before their Community Shield final with Premier League champions, Liverpool.
