3 Players to have signed for Chelsea after turning 35 years or more.

Player who are advanced in age, find it very hard to get opportunities in big European clubs due to their age directly affecting their ability to perform to a certain level for the club in order to justify the heavy amount of salary that will be paid to the aging players over the period of their contract with the club.

Another reason for clubs not signing players that are over 35+ years is that, these veteran players, may or certainly will hinder the progress of youth players within the club set up. Youth players coming through the ranks in clubs are very important these days due to the home grown quota introduced in various leagues.

Many clubs are even reluctant to hand their players that are over the age of 30, contracts that is more than one year. This has prompted many players to leave their respective clubs after the clubs declined to offer them longer contracts to stay with the club.
